Dr. Goose is an "Aging Hippie", a real bonafide child of the '60's who grew up
in the San Francisco Bay area and spent a large part of his youth hanging out
in San Francisco. As such, he learned the holistic hippie art of tie dye from "masters" and
does his tie dye in the old traditional styles using long proven methods.
With the exception of garments designed to be painted, all items are tied using
cotton string, rubber bands, threads, or dye cords. Unless noted otherwise, all Dr. Goose's
shirts, pants, hats, or bandannas - essentially anything dyed -- are all hand tied and
dyed individually.
It is a very labor intensive process, but Dr. Goose has always felt
that if you're going to do something, do it right and don't take shortcuts. He has done
experiments using machines to rinse the products, but has determined that good old
fashioned hand rinsing prevents dyes from "staining" the white undyed parts of the garment.
Dr. Goose has developed a method of applying dyes using an airbrush, but it hasn't
been perfected yet.
It's an interesting process, but Dr. Goose is learning to use a different kind of
airbrush that works quite differently than those he's used in the past, so
there is a fairly steep learning curve.
He believes that people will ultimately find the style to be interesting, but
it's completely different from tie dying.
Many years ago, Dr. Goose developed a style of dying shirts so that the front
pattern is close to the back pattern, but the colors are completely different!!!
Picture on the left is the Front and the picture on the right is the Back
of the same shirt!!!!! It can be done!!!
He's had many comments about how impossible it is to make the colors different front and
back, but you can see in the "Catalog/Shopping Cart!!!" listings,
that, in fact the front and back are different colors.
Because these products are individually hand tied and hand dyed there are no two ever the
same so what you are acquiring is 100% unique. Colors and patterns can be similar, but
they're never identical....
Some bandannas are done in pairs so they look almost exactly the same, but even though
tied and dyed together they are not identical!!!
Dr. Goose also has other hippie products - polished rocks, polished stones, dog clothes,
